20th May 2020

Good morning – I hope everyone is still well. As you’ll know this week is Mental Health Awareness Week. On our kindness planner that we included yesterday today is a day for talking kindly to yourself. When was the last time you gave yourself credit for something. Be your own cheerleader today.

Newsdesk today is about a very interesting phenomenon – The Northern Lights. If you look for some pictures of it online, you’ll be amazed. The latin name for the Northern lights is Aurora Borealis. Erin & Cara M have been learning the Latin names of plants while they’ve been off. I have lots of Bellis perennis in my garden – do you know what kind of flowers they are?

Junior Newsdesk had a story called The Rainbow Fish finds yesterday. Lorcan C caught a rainbow fish on Monday night. Thanks for sharing the photo Lorcan. Today’s article is about Wee Critters, particularly Sampi the striped skunk and Rolypoly Pangolin. It’s worth a look.

Week 2 of Healthy Kidz Virtual Sports Day continues and the two events this week are the egg & spoon and the high jump. Have you been practicing? Any photos?

I posted this yesterday, but it’s really worth a look for parents. Home activity packs for various age groups on the ThinkUKnow website. This website helps with online safety and they have some easy to follow activities available for primary and post primary children. Just follow the link: https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents/Support-tools/home-activity-worksheets/

P4, P5, P6, P7 have received Mathletics log in details via Seesaw over the last few days. We’re glad to see so many of you have already logged in and doing so well. We are learning how it works as you complete the assigned tasks, so bear with us please. Everyone should log in before the end of the week, so we know that the links are working. Thank you.

Thanks to everyone for your great pictures. Aobh had a special birthday at the weekend and has been really enjoying my jokes – Oh yes you have, Aobh! Adam’s sunflower has finally started to grow. I've also seen some of your photos on Seesaw, but cannot use these on our website. If you'd like to share pics, please e-mail to: info@stpatrickspssaul.downpatrick.ni.sch.uk

During May we continue to say our prayers to Mary. Remember to keep praying for those who are sick or alone and those people who are working so hard to look after them. Pray for everyone who is so busy looking after you and still working to ensure we have everything we need. We are so grateful.

Stay safe.

Today’s joke:

My friend recently got crushed by a pile of books, but he’s only got his shelf to blame. (I really love this one!) Hope Orla Rose enjoys it too!
