P5 Poetry
Before Christmas, P5 took part in a wonderful session of poetry workshops, organised through the Community Arts Partnership. We worked with a lovely poet, Linda McKenna and every child was inspired to write poetry on their own, in pairs and then as a whole class. During this highlight of term one, every child made magic with words, expressed themselves freely and used images and ideas in their own unique way. The results were amazing and the desire to write poetry in P5 lasted well beyond the length of the project. Every child entered a poem into the competition, and as a class we entered our shared poem, 'Greta the Great'. Although we didn't win (lots of entries were from post primary schools) we are so proud of what we achieved and more importantly, what this experience has taught us. I have included a link to the awards announcement in which our school is mentioned, and also a copy of 'Greta the Great'. Can you remember which bit you wrote?
