Our P7 runners made the short trip to Dunleath Park yesterday for the annual Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Cross Country event. After some trials eight boys and eight girls were selected to represent St Patrick's and they did so brilliantly. With 30 schools there it was one of the biggest for a few years!
We were so proud of all the runners at the event and particularly the champion himself - Donnchadh - who came first in the boys race. First out of 240 runners!!! The smiles on everyone's faces were no match for the man himself as you can see in the photos. He was presented with his 1st Place plaque by Councillor Gareth Sharvin. Donnchadh was greeted on his return to school by his class and then by the whole school at dinner time in the hall, where he got a tremendous three cheers and round of applause.
Thanks to the organisers for such a well run event and to our parents who helped with transport. Most of all well done to all of our brilliant runners!
