Maidin mhaith– we’ve reached Friday and the last day of school in the month of Mary. For Mental Health Awareness Week, today, our planner says we should be kind and generous to others. It makes us feel as good as they will. Take some time to thank others. For instance your parents have been juggling their work and your work, so make sure you thank them for working so hard. Perhaps send a wee thank you in to Seesaw today? I’m sure there’s lots of people you’ll be able to thank. Perhaps a gesture of thanks too. A wee cup of tea, a hug, a tidy up.

E is for Egypt on Newsdesk today. Pharoahs, pyramids, the Nile river, Omar Shariff and some boy called Mo Salah. What else do you know about Egypt? Did you know that 5,000 years ago, they had some modern conveniences that we take for granted now? Fridges, toilets and ovens! Read all about it on Newsdesk.

The weather has certainly changed today and anyone who hasn’t had their haircut in a while better watch out when you step outside! It’s very windy and what better weather is there to fly a kite in? Junior Newsdesk has instructions on how to make your own and of course a link to Mary Poppins. You could maybe just snuggle up and watch that if you don’t fancy being blown away!

Week 2 of Healthy Kidz Virtual Sports Day continues and the two events this week are the egg & spoon and the high jump. Have you been practicing? Any photos? My high jump practice didn’t go so well. There’s a lot less spring in my knees than I remember. Next week’s events are the Welly Boot toss and the Superstrong Challenge. Instructions are on the school website under the Children’s tab.

I came across some short videos from BBC Children in Need that I thought were excellent, especially during Mental Health Awareness week. Dr Radha has some very useful tips on: starting the day, sleeping well, understanding feelings and lots more. Mums and dads will like her short video clips too. The link is saved on school website under Useful Links - https://www.bbcchildreninneed.co.uk/changing-lives/dr-radhas-wellbeing-tips/?f24_pid=e7a8e3f9-6ebc-4635-901b-4022e12874da

P4, P5, P6, P7 have been working on Mathletics this week for the first time and oh my goodness! You have been setting some very high scores. Keep it up! We are learning how it works as you complete the assigned tasks, so bear with us please. Everyone should log in before the end of the week, so we know that the links are working. Thank you.

Thanks to everyone for your great pictures. Cormac’s bean from his trip to Castleward has really sprouted up (like he has too!). He’d like to know if any other P5s still have theirs? Send us a photo please. Donnacha also enjoyed a very special birthday during the week. Love the T-shirt Donnacha. I've also seen some of your photos on Seesaw, but cannot use these on our website. If you'd like to share pics, please e-mail to: info@stpatrickspssaul.downpatrick.ni.sch.uk

During May we continue to say our prayers to Mary. Remember to keep praying for those who are sick or alone and those people who are working so hard to look after them. Pray for everyone who is so busy looking after you and still working to ensure we have everything we need. We are so grateful.

Stay safe and enjoy a wee break next week. Teacher’s will be back in touch on Monday 1st June.

Today’s joke:

Why did the man put his money in the freezer?

He wanted cold, hard cash.
