19th Jun 2020

Good morning.

The end of another busy week and we’re all looking forward to the weekend.  School reports will be posted today, so you should have them soon. Our parent-pupil survey closes at midday, so please take a few moments to complete. Thanks to everyone who has done so already and we appreciate your support.

We will be sending out a message early next week regarding the return of any school books. If you can start gathering any reading or text books that belong to school and place them in a bag with your child’s name and class on it, it will be ready to be left in. We’ll have dates and times soon.

Newsdesk visits Holland today. Windmills, tulips, Vincent Van Gogh and cycling are what I know most about the Netherlands. You’ll find out loads more by reading today’s Newsdesk.

Sunday is the midpoint of the year and also known as the longest day. It’s also known as the summer solstice. Junior Newsdesk has lots of interesting facts on it today. It’s also the birthday of my youngest sister (Happy Birthday Catherine - that'll save me buying a card!) and at least two past pupils, James S and Conor K.

The Health & Safety Executive for Northern Ireland, “Be aware kids – Child safety on farms,’ competition continues and the theme for this week (Mon 15th - Fri 19th June) is - DANGERS FROM FALLS AND FALLING OBJECTS

Working at height is an ever-present danger on farms - farmers and farm workers of any age run the risk of injury or death from falls.

To enter the competition all children need to do is draw a poster on a plain A3 or A4 page about the Dangers from Falls and Falling Objects.

Parents/Caregivers just need to take a photograph of the completed poster and email to safestart@hseni.gov.uk by today at 4pm. Please remember to include the child's name, age, school and a contact number for the parent/caregiver in the covering email. The winner will be notified next week.

Children of Primary school age can enter with the chance to win a £30 One4all gift voucher.

Children have been working on Mathletics and P2s received their log-in details yesterday. We will download data after midday today for certificates to be awarded later. Good luck everyone!

Accelerated Reader is still available for the P4-P7 children. We intend to keep it open as long as possible during the summer. You must use the link specific to our school: https://ukhosted6.renlearn.co.uk/2124881/Public/RPM/Login/Login.aspx?srcID=s

Thanks to everyone for your great pictures. Eva had a lovely birthday in spite of the restrictions and Nieve certainly is living the life – place value and pool! Send us a photo please. If you'd like to share pics, please e-mail to: info@stpatrickspssaul.downpatrick.ni.sch.uk

Remember to keep praying for those who are sick or alone and those people who are working so hard to look after them. Pray for everyone who is so busy looking after you and still working to ensure we have everything we need. We are so grateful.

We are looking forward to our Leaver’s Mass scheduled for Monday 22nd June at 10am. Fr Alexander will celebrate Mass and we can watch via the parish webcam. We hope you can join us at saulandballeeparish.com and click on Webcam. Remember that you can also check in with Fr Alexander for daily Mass at 10am and Sunday Mass at 9:30am.

P7 parents, please check your messages from school app.

Stay safe.

Today’s joke:

Why is 2+2=5 like your left foot?
It’s not right.
