12th Jun 2020

Good morning.

I hope everyone is still well. We are hurtling towards the end of June and while you may be thinking of winding up for the summer, we are trying to plan for the return to school in the new term. A letter to parents was sent via the website yesterday and is available on the school website as well. When we have more detail, we will pass it on immediately.

On 12th June 1929 a baby girl was born who many of you will have heard of. She experienced a much more sinister ‘lockdown’ than the one we are experiencing and wrote about it each day. Can you guess who it is? Yes, it was Anne Frank. Anne would have been 91 today and both Newsdesk and Junior Newsdesk have lots of information about her today. Well worth a read with mum or dad too.

The Health & Safety Executive for Northern Ireland, “Be aware kids – Child safety on farms.’ The theme for the week (Mon 8th - Fri 12th June) for our child safety poster competition is - FARM ANIMALS. To enter the competition all you need to do is draw a poster on a plain A3 or A4 page about the Dangers from Farm Animals.

Parents/Caregivers just need to take a photograph of the completed poster and email to safestart@hseni.gov.uk by Friday 12th June at 4pm. Please remember to include your name, age, school and a contact number for the parent/caregiver in the covering email. The winner will be notified next week.

Children of Primary school age can enter with the chance to win a £30 One4all gift voucher.

Remember to let your teachers see what you’ve been up to on Seesaw. Teacher’s will have been in touch this week if they haven’t heard form you in a little while to see how you are doing. If you’re having any difficulties, contact the school office. Any issues with devices or getting online, please let us know as well. Tel. 02844614145 We’ll do our best to help you out.

Week 5 of Healthy Kidz Virtual Sports Day and you should be practising your best five events for the sports day this Saturday.

Children have been working on Mathletics and 45 children received their bronze certificates via Seesaw on Friday. P2 logins may be ready for Monday as we’ve had a few technical hitches this week. We are learning how it works as you complete the assigned tasks, so bear with us please. Some children have not logged in yet and we need them to do so before the end of this week.

Accelerated Reader is still available for the P4-P7 children. While there have been many of you taking quizzes, a number have not and we need you to do so before the end of term. If you’re having issues logging in, use the information on our website to help. You must use the link specific to our school: https://ukhosted6.renlearn.co.uk/2124881/Public/RPM/Login/Login.aspx?srcID=s

Thanks to everyone for your great pictures. Some great images today with P5s having sent in some wonderful pictures to Mrs Sealey. Send us a photo please. If you'd like to share pics, please e-mail to: info@stpatrickspssaul.downpatrick.ni.sch.uk

Remember to keep praying for those who are sick or alone and those people who are working so hard to look after them. Pray for everyone who is so busy looking after you and still working to ensure we have everything we need. We are so grateful.

We are looking forward to our Leaver’s Mass scheduled for Monday 22nd June at 10am. Fr Alexander will celebrate Mass and we can watch via the parish webcam. We hope you can join us at saulandballeeparish.com and click on Webcam. Remember that you can also check in with Fr Alexander for daily Mass at 10am and Sunday Mass at 9:30am.

Stay safe.

Today’s joke:

What kind of tree fits into your hand?

A palm tree of course!
