Our after school golf finished with a flourish as the children made the short trip into St Patrick's Golf Club for a few holes of the real thing. The last four weeks of practice in school showed as the children demonstrated some text book swings and the golf balls flew straight and true. Professional Charlie, ably assisted by Gerry (once upon a time a teacher and school principal as well as a now seven-day-a-week golfer!) took their group to the practice area where they chipped and putted like Rory McIlroy on a Saturday. Mr McGrath took the other group out onto the course where they played some holes and enjoyed a putting competition on the first green that had to be decided by a rock-paper-scissors contest it was that close!
The afternoon finished with some hot chocolate and sweets provided by Charlie.
Thanks to Charlie and Gerry for today, and to Carmel for her help over the last few weeks as well. Thanks to St Patrick's Golf Club for hosting us too, it was a super treat! well done to all the children too - such talent on the golf course! Didn't they do well?
